Our "Red Lovers" tasting package includes the following wines:
- Nantucket Postcard Red Wine
Medium Full bodied, purple
to dark ruby in color. Made from 60% Monastrell and 40% Tempranillo, Nantucket
Postcard reveals a nose of cherries and blackberries. On the palate flavors of
black fruits and plums mingle with hints of licorice, minerals and
vanilla. Supple and smooth on the
palate, the lovely fruit flavors balance with its fine tanins and acidity, providing a
medium-long finish.
- Nomeda Tempranillo/Merlot/Syrah
Produced from select
bunches of Tempranillo (60%), Syrah (25%) and Merlot (15%) this "coupage"
was specially blended for VinLozano Imports. The deep red/violet color leads to
aromas and flavors of ripe fruits, cherries, blackberries and plums with just
touch of smokiness. Velvety and unctuous on the palate with well-balanced
fruit, tannins and acidity and a persistent finish, Almedo is an honest,
food friendly wine as well as being delightful on its own. Seeing no oak, and though it stresses pure,
clean fruit, the wine's complexity will surprise you.
- Mar de Castilla Tempranillo Merlot
Mar de Castilla or “The Sea
of Castile” is named for the surrounding countryside where the hills rise
and fall like endless undulating waves upon the sea. Produced from the
Tempranillo (temp-re-nee-yo) grape, grown in our family vineyards at Dehesa de
Villacezán, this fresh, fruity red shows a lovely ruby to purple color. Flavors
of raspberries, blackberries and strawberries lead to a clean smooth finish.
With a silky feel in the mouth, well-balanced acidity and soft tannins, Mar de
Castilla Tempranillo is the ideal accompaniment to many dishes (including
cheeses, meats, pastas and fish) and is also perfect on its own.
- Villacezan VCZ Seis Meses
Produced from Prieto
Picudo, Mencia and Tempranillo grapes grown in the family vineyards at Dehesa
de Villacezán, this deep purple-red wine exhibits lovely aromas and flavors of
ripe dark-fruits with hints of coffee, toast and vanilla. After reaching optimum maturity
levels in the vineyards the grapes were hand sorted and fermented (with
frequent pump-overs) in temperature controlled tanks. After racking the wine was
aged for six months in new French and American oak. Deft integration of fruit,
tannins, oak and acidity give Seis Meses lovely balance and allow the wine to
pair well with many dishes…But why wait for dinner.
Produced from old-vine,
low-yield (1.3 tons/acre) Tempranillo (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%),
Villacampa de Marques Roble begins with hand harvesting, sorting and
destemming. After a gentle crush the wine undergoes 18 days maceration and
fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with daily cap
punch downs. Five months in 3-4 year old French and American oak barriques
lends a subtle layer of complexity.
A brilliant cherry red color with purplish hues in the glass, this medium
bodied red exhibits lovely aromas and flavors of
strawberries, black berries, and cassis. Velvety on the palate, the
balance between fruit, acidity, and tannins provides a nice persistent finish.
Produced from 100% Tinta de
Toro, Viñalcasta Reserva is sourced from select bunches from the finest
low-yielding vineyard parcels (under 1.5 tons per acre). After hand harvesting,
destemming and a gentle crush, the wine undergoes a long maceration of 25
days and temperature-controlled fermentation with daily cap punch-downs.
Following 18 months in new American barriques, the
wine is racked and aged for another 12
months in bottle. Viñalcasta Reserva shows a dark cherry color in the glass
with brick red edging. Full bodied, velvety and sumptuous on the palate,
flavors of dark, sweet cherries, cassis and smoky licorice balance effortlessly
with the oak, acidity and tannins. Viñalcasta Reserva reveals the epitome of
what the Toro region is capable of producing.
